old Grand Canal, the water highway from southern to northern
China; and the mystical city of Suzhou known for its famous
gardens, canals and gondolas (associated with the visit of
Marco Polo). The Song Dynasty Show- a theatrical production

some of the highlights of Shanghai, including places
of Jewish interest, among them the Hong Kou district
where some 30,000 Jews spent World War II in safety;
the synagogue (now a museum) in the area, and a park
with a monument commemorating the experience of the
Jews in Shanghai written in Hebrew and Chinese.
Places
