Itinerary
Day 1, Sunday - New York
Departure for Vienna.
Day 2, Monday - Vienna
Arrival in Vienna,
Austria’s stylish historic capital.
Meet with your tour escort and begin a panoramic city bus tour, which will bring you to the great boulevard, "the Ring Strasse", the State Opera House, Parliament, Town Hall and more.
Overnight in Vienna for the next two nights.
Day 3, Tuesday - Vienna, Jewish Quarter of Vienna
Tour Jewish Vienna, visit "Judenplatz", the city’s original Jewish Quarter, Jewish Museum, the new Holocaust Museum and the underground remains of the medieval synagogue that once stood there. In the afternoon we will visit the famous Schoenbrunn Palace, the emperor's summer home.
Day 4, Wednesday - Vienna, Sopron, Budapest
Depart Vienna for the charming city of Sopron, dating back to medieval times. Stop at the main square, past gothic mansions to the 13th century old synagogue. Continue through the Hungarian countryside to the sophisticated city of Budapest.
Overnight in Budapest for the next four nights.
Day 5, Thursday - Budapest
Morning tour will include the Jewish sites of Budapest with a visit to the Dohany Street Synagogue built in 1800, and considered the largest in Europe. Then on to the Jewish Museum. In the afternoon, enjoy a panoramic city tour. See the medieval Citadel, Fisherman's Bastion, and the Heroes Square.
Enjoy a one-hour Danube cruise.
Day 6, Friday - Budapest, Szentendre
Enjoy a morning tour of the Danube Bend with a stop in the picturesque village of Szentendre. Afternoon at leisure. Evening services followed by Shabbat dinner.
Day 7, Shabbat - Budapest
Shabbat services followed by Shabbat lunch.
In the afternoon there will be a walking tour of the area.
Day 8, Sunday - Bratislava, Brno
Slovakia, Moravia, Mikulov & Brno
Cross the border into Slovakia and visit Bratislava. See the site of the former Jewish District and the grave of the Hatam Sofer. After lunch drive into southern Moravia in the Czech Republic. Stop for visit in Mikulov, home to a Jewish community from the 2nd half of the 14th century.
Continue for overnight in Brno.
Day 9, Monday - Brno, Prague
After a tour of Brno, depart for Prague. In the afternoon, enjoy a tour of Prague, which will include Hradcany Castle, Charles Bridge lined with statues, Town Hall Square with its Astronomical Clock.
Overnight in Prague for the next three nights.
Day 10, Tuesday - Prague, Terezin
This morning we will visit the Jewish Prague: Josefov, the Jewish District with Altneu Synagogue, the oldest functioning synagogue in Europe, and the Jewish Museum complex and the Jewish Cemetery, burial place of the Maharal.
In the afternoon we will visit Theresientadt, established by the Germans in 1941, and considered by them the "Model Concentration Camp."
Day 11, Wednesday - Prague, Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad)
Enjoy a full day tour to Karlsbad, known as Karlovy Vary. A spa resort dating back to the 16th century. Karlsbad is also famous for its porcelain herbal liqueur and its healing waters.
Return to Prague.
Day 12, Thursday - Prague, New York
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
